Background
About Food (AF), a food service business under Bhiraj Buri Group, provides restaurant and catering services across various formats. For a new international school food service project, AF needed to support multiple points of sale with different service models. AF needed a POS system that could integrate with the school’s database, support food allergy information, and enable a credit-based payment model, with the system required to go live within two months.
Challenges
• Multiple Service Points: POS needed to support 5 locations and 10 terminals across the school, with different products and service formats at each location. • Student Credit & Payment Options: POS needed to manage student credit, spending limits, and multiple payment methods, including card readers, QR payments, and credit cards. • School System Integration: POS needed to connect with the school’s database, Student Management System, and Parent Portal to share student, spending, and transaction data. • Food Allergy & Caution Information: The system needed to provide relevant dietary information so the Food Service team could serve students according to their individual restrictions. • 2-Month Go-Live Timeline: The entire process—from requirement gathering and vendor selection to implementation—needed to be completed within two months.
What we did
ASAP Project worked closely with About Food (AF) and Concordian International School, supporting the project from requirement gathering through system implementation and hardware installation to ensure operational readiness.
• Requirement Collection: Gathered and assessed business requirements and operational constraints from both the Food Service and school teams.
• Vendor Selection: Evaluated and selected potential vendors based on functional fit, flexibility, and their ability to identify the right-fit POS solution.
• System Implementation & Integration: Managed and monitored the preparation of key system data, including menu items, ingredients, Bills of Materials (BOM), student databases, and other required information to support system implementation.
Outcomes
About Food successfully implemented a right-fit POS solution that addressed both its food service operations and the school’s specific requirements within the required timeline. • School System Integration: Defined integration requirements and use cases for connecting the POS with the School Database, Parent Portal, and other related systems. • Student-Specific Requirements: Enabled the solution to support food allergy information, caution requirements, and student spending conditions.
About Food successfully implemented a POS system that addressed complex operational requirements and integrated with the school’s existing systems, meeting the needs of both About Food and the school within a challenging timeline.
